What is going on? (A stupid SEO Scheme?)

I have some weird tumblr accounts doing “like” to a lot of my post (not this tumblr, another one)

At the beginning I was happy, after a while I started to have some doubts.

Basically, all these accounts have weird names such as genyvynaga.tumblr.com or other strange names.

All these accounts use the same theme and have two sets of Google Adsense unit (nothing wrong on having adsense… but please keep reading) and the tumblr blog title is always “Welcome to my home”.

My guess: this is just a stupid seo plan from the same guy. Doing a like means getting a link to his/her tumblr. However, for which keywords is s/he trying to rank, I don’t know.

Sometimes, a tumblr account does a straigh redirect to another website… so…

This is just my guess… but I might be well wrong. If so, please let me know.

As I am working on a new editorial product here on Tumblr, I am a bit annoyed of getting feedback from fake users but, at the end, the real damage is not so big.

  12. brookespoint answered: I get that a lot too. Most of them go as far as following me. At least ten of them have.
  13. ishcabittle answered: I, too, am getting many likes from fake accounts. Most, if not all, redirect to shopping sites, so I assumed it was simply a new spam type.
  14. emmefotografia answered: looks really like all those mentions form fake accounts on Twitter.
